North Union FFA Excels at Sub-District Speaking

The North Union FFA competed in the District Six Central Sub-District FFA Public Speaking Contest held at Ohio Hi-Point JVS on February, 13th. The participants were Harley Jerew in the Creed, Andrea Frey in Beginning Prepared, and Tara Zasadzinski in Senior Prepared and Tyler Patton in Extemporaneous. The top three individuals in each area advance to the District Six contest March 1st at South Eastern High School. Harley Jerew presented the FFA Creed and placed second. The Creed contest has students memorize and recite the FFA Creed and answer three to five questions on its meaning and its relationship to our life. Andrea Frey presented her speech on Ethanol and placed fourth. The Beginning Prepared Contest has FFA members research, write, and memorize a 5-7 minute speech. Tara Zasadzinski presented her speech on Horse Hippotherapy and placed first. The Senior Prepared Contest has FFA members write research and memorize a six to eight minute speech. Tyler Patton presented his topic of "Plants and Biotechnology” and placed first. The Extemporaneous Contest has students draw a topic once they arrive at the site; then they have 30 minutes to prepare a 4-6 minute speech on that topic. Harley, Tara and Tyler will go on and represent North Union at the District Contest in March.
