North Union FFA Achieves Success in FFA Job Interview Contest The Job Interview Career Development Event is designed for FFA members to practice and demonstrate the skills needed in seeking employment in all areas of agriculture. Each part of this event simulates real-world experiences that students will have when seeking employment in the future. The contest consists of FFA members submitting a cover letter and resume to be graded on quality and content related to a job they chose earlier. They then have fifteen minutes to complete a job application which will be graded on completeness. Once application is submitted, the FFA members are interviewed for fifteen minutes and scored on their knowledge and professionalism. In the last step, the members are required to hand-write a thank you letter to the interviewers and that is then graded on effectiveness and content. This year four FFA members first competed in the Central Sub-District Six FFA contest at North Union High School. Autumn Bumgarner competed in the Freshman Division and received a gold rating and placed third and advanced to the district level. Amber Mathys competed in the Senior Division in which she placed fourth. Jacci Erwin competed in the junior division and placed fourth. Kayleen Faine competed in the sophomore division and placed third and advanced to the district contest. In the District Six FFA Job interview contest held at West Liberty Salem High School, Autumn Bumgarner and Kayleen Faine placed fourth and first respectfully out of 36 FFA members in each division. Kayleen went to represent North Union FFA at the state competition and placed 7th. Kayleen is the first member since Mr. Murphy Foreman in 1992 to compete at the state level. |
